Obituary

Raymond E. Lohr Sr., 85 of Buffalo Mills, died Friday, June 3, 2011, at WMHS Regional Medical Center.

Born June 24, 1925, in Buffalo Mills; he was a son of the late Earnest and Helen (Mowry) Lohr. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Lawrence Keel.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alice M. (Fait) Lohr, whom he married August 27, 1947; children, Connie Keel of Buffalo Mills, Raymond Lohr Jr. and wife, Joyce of Norfolk, VA, Michael Lohr of Buffalo Mills, Sara DeLutis and husband, James of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother, Robert Lohr of Buffalo Mills; a sister, Ernestine Phillips of Bedford; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mr. Lohr and his wife owned and operated the Village News in Bedford for 21 years. He was also the manager of the Amoco Station in Bedford for 21 years. Prior to that he had worked construction on the PA Turnpike and building construction in Cleveland, OH.

He was a US Navy veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Bedford Masonic Lodge #320 F&AM, ,VFW Oscar Jordan Post 7375, where he served as Past Commander, American Legion Post 113, and the Old Bastards Club. He was also a member of the New Baltimore Sportsmen s Club and a life member of Kennells Mill Sportsmen s Club.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Tuesday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. where a funeral service will follow at 6:30 with the Rev. Ryan Viands officiating.

Burial will be private at Milligans Cove Cemetery.
