Obituary

Buffalo Mills, PA Frank E. Burkett, 90, Buffalo Mills, died March 28, 2013 at Pennknoll Village.
Born on October 10, 1922 in Manns Choice, PA; he was the son of the late Nicolas and Freda (Trost) Burkett. He is also preceded in death by brother, Howard Burkett and sister, Dorothy Clites
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bette (Coleman) Burkett, whom he married May 24, 1947; daughter, Cathy, married to Sheldon Benton, Everett; grandchildren, Jeffrey Sturtz, Cumberland and Jeremy Sturtz, Hyndman; great-grandchildren, Garrett; Baylee; Paige and Landon Sturtz and 4 nieces and nephews.
Frank was retired from Kelly-Springfield Tire Co., after 37years of service, where he was a foreman. He was a member of the Hyndman Lodge Masonic Temple 589; the Antique Car Club, Bedford; a life member of the VFW and DAV and was on the Tuesday morning bowling league in Cumberland. He was a former member of the Hyndman-Londonderry School Boards and a member of the Grace Gravel Pit Charge UMC.
Frank was a US Army Veteran, Sgt 295th F.A. ob Bn, was in the Battles of Ardennes; Raineland Hurten Forest; Battle of the Bulge and the Malmedy Massacre. He landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day and received the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with 2 bronze stars; the good conduct medal and the American Campaign medal and the Victory medal during WWII.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H Zeigler Funeral Home Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman, on Friday from 7 to 9p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00a.m. with Pastor E. Robert Nagy, officiating.
Military rites will be performed by the Ft. Bedford Honor Guard.
