Obituary

Ellerslie, MD – Joyce E. Churchey, 73, of Ellerslie, passed away peacefully, Friday May 15, 2020 at WVU Ruby with her husband by her side.
Born January 1, 1947 in Cumberland; she was a daughter of the late Harry and Alverda (Thomas) Waltman. She is also preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Wayne Kammauff, siblings, Katherine Martin, William Waltman, Betty Stahlman, Bobby Waltman, and Shirley Sturtz.
Survived by her husband of 36 years, Gregory W. Churchey; children, John Kammauff and wife Sally of Charlottesville, VA; William Kammauff of LaVale; Tina Sager and husband Paul of Charles Town, WV; Shawn Churchey of Greencastle, PA; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, whom she adored. Also survived by sisters, Janet O’Neal of Ellerslie, Mary Ann Deneen and husband Bob of Hyndman, and LaVerda Lowery of Ft. Ashby, WV and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce retired from Sacred Heart Hospital after 34 years as a nurse’s aide. She was a 1965 graduate of Mount Savage High School. She enjoyed beach vacations with family and friends. She as an avid Baltimore Orioles fan and enjoyed playing golf with “the girls” at Maplehurst. She loved spending time with family.
Due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic the family will conduct the funeral service privately.
Burial at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone, MD.
