Obituary

Martha Mae Johnson, 82, of Ellerslie, MD, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024 in Carlisle, PA.

Born October 8, 1942 in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Frankland and Marion (Weller) Sine.

She graduated from Allegany High School and worked for several years as a teller at First Federal Savings and Loan. She then began her full-time job of being a homemaker, a calling that brought her great joy.

She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and volunteered for the American Heart Association and at Western MD Hospital. Words used to describe Martha are generous, loving, kind, and thoughtful. Her priority in life were her family and friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Robert D. Johnson, Jr. in 2002, companion, Vince Shumaker, and brother-in-law, Keith Johnson both in 2022.

She is survived by two children, Jennifer (David) Miller, Boiling Springs, PA; Robert D. Johnson, III (Shelly), Corriganville, MD; grandchildren, Hannah and Samuel Johnson; brother, Don Sine (Jan Dickieson), Encinitas, CA; sister, Lois (Noel) Milan, Annapolis, MD; sister-in-law, Bev Johnson, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Sonja Johnson, Hyndman, PA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

According to Martha’s wishes, her family will be remembering and celebrating her life privately. Internment will be at Lybarger Cemetery, Madley, PA.
