Obituary

Sylvia T. Hare, 96, of Hyndman, formerly of Meyersdale, passed away peacefully June 14, 2025 in New Jersey, with loving family by her side. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Yolanda (Viola) and Andy Tattarelli. Preceded in death by loving spouse, Thomas R. Hare Sr; sister Antoinette Cronin; sister-in-law Alma Lauver and husband Gene; and brother-in-law Edward Frohnapfel. Sylvia is survived by sons, Tom Hare, Jr. (Patti), Medford, NJ and Andy Hare, (Mindy) Zebulon, NC; her sister Lorraine Frohnapfel; brother-in-law Norbert Cronin; sister-in-law Joan Zavala; and brother-in-law Ted Hare. Also survived by four grandchildren she adored, Justin (Meridith Belcher), Joshua, Kelsey and Logan (Joanna), and five great grand-children, Mason, Bodhi, Riley, Owen and Elijah; as well as numerous loved nieces, nephews and extended family. A great loss will also be felt by her many friends, wonderful neighbors and best friend Norma Kessler.

Sylvia will be remembered for her incredible zest for life, friendly manner, humor, community involvement, religious faith, kindness to all and dedication to family and friends. She was a parishioner at St Patrick Church  in Cumberland for many years. As a young girl, she participated in women’s sports, cheerleading, class government and was very proud to be the lead in her Senior Class Play. Syl loved dancing with Tom at Circle 219, listening to Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, bowling, walking the Mall with Tom and spending time with Norma. Hard work was a key part of life, including early years at The Dairy Dale in Meyersdale and later years at Sacred Heart Hospital. Sylvia’s love of kids and desire to help was evident, as she carried new toys with her to local restaurants to coax upset little ones to eat their meals. In South Jersey, Sylvia continued her full life. She enjoyed bingo, computer bowling, trivia, and happy hours at her Senior Living Community, where she made new friends and impacted many people. Sylvia Hare is indeed an example of a life well-lived and will be dearly missed.
