Helen Jordan Phillips, 95, of Ellerslie, went to be with the Lord Saturday June 13, 2020 at her home.

Born February 2, 1925, in Hyndman, PA; she was a daughter of the late Oscar George and Gertrude May (Tharp) Jordan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Keith Walton Phillips in 1986; brothers, James Jordan, Oscar Jordan and William Jordan Sr.; and a sister, Margaret Shirey.

Survived by children, Keith W. Phillips Jr and wife Janet of Ellerslie, Thomas A. Phillips and Bev Shaffer of Hyndman; Margaret A. Mallow and husband Shawn of Hyndman, Tena M. Beal and husband Mark of Lakewood, WV, and Elisa Kavchak and husband Bill of Little Rock, AR; 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She worked at Kelly Springfield Tire, Rosenbaum Department Store, Cumberland Nursing Home and during WWII worked at the Celanese Corp. making ammunition. She was also a private sitter and caregiver. She also volunteered at the hospital.

Helen loved her family and was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Ellerslie, United Methodist Church; Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Hall Ladies Auxiliary, Hyndman Senior Citizens, Past Worthy Matron of OES Frostburg, she had dual membership at Frostburg Mountain Chapter 15 and McKinley Chapter 12, Past Matrons and Patrons Organization of Western Maryland, Daughters of the Nile Retemple 118; past mother advisor for the Cumberland Assembly 6 Order of the Rainbow Girls. She enjoyed BINGO, watching Pirates Baseball, she was an avid animal lover and played the organ at her church.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Wednesday June 17, 2020 from 4 to 7 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday June 18, 2020 at 11 a.m. with Rev Sandy Hetz Burchell officiating. Visitation one hour prior.

Burial will follow at Hyndman Cemetery

In lieu of flowers donations may be made Ellerslie United Methodist Church or the Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Department.
