Obituary
Ethel May Waltman, 96, of Cumberland, formerly of Hyndman, was reunited with her husband Monday, May 3, 2010, at the Lion’s Center.
Born September 4, 1913 in Hyndman PA, she was a daughter of the late Blair W. and Laura B. (Kennedy) Ritchey. She was also preceded in death by her husband Clyde R. “Smoke” Waltman, Sr. in 1989, brothers, Jack, Robert, William, John and Donald; sisters, Erma Jean Conner, Lena Sisler, Mary Smith, and Ruth Crabtree.
Mrs. Waltman is survived by a daughter, Monna Lee Porter of Cumberland and a son, Clyde R. Waltman, Jr. and wife, Patricia of Winchester, VA; eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren; sisters, Maude Hordubay of West End, PA, Pearl Miller and Audrey Sisk both of Hyndman; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Waltman was a homemaker. She also worked at the Celanese, Fairchild Aircraft and with her husband owned and operated Waltman’s Gas Station in Hyndman for more than 20 years.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Thursday, May 6th from 5 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday May 7th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fred Iser officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland, MD, with Eugene and Scott Porter, Joey Waltman, Lewis and Justin Arnold and Mark Beard serving as pallbearers.
