Gresh, George, D. Sr. 84, Johnstown, died August 26, 2013 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. Born November 16, 1928 in Johnstown, son of the late John and Anna (Preslopski) Gresh. His Father was from Malcov and his Mother from Hrabske, Czechoslovakia. Preceded in death by brothers Walter, Michael, John, Peter, and other siblings in infancy. George proudly served as a Sargent First Class in the Army during the Korean War, he was a turn foreman for Bethlehem Steel Corp, most of all he was an avid farmer all of his life. He loved animals and loved gardening and was well known for his garlic. As with most older-generation farmers, he made all of his own mechanical repairs to his farming equipment. He was very musically talented; He could play bass fiddle, accordion, lead guitar, and banjo. He and his brothers had a band called the ‘Sun Valley Ranchers.’ He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting in his younger years. He was a loving and devoted husband and always put the needs of others ahead of his own, especially those of his family. He was a very kind man that never spoke negatively of others. He will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved him.
Special thanks would like to be given to his caregivers; daughter Petita Gresh; friend Carolyn Brumbaugh; nurse Emmit Kuntz; and the entire staff at the Holidaysburg Veteran Home. Additionally, the family would like to thank Carolyn Brumbaugh, Dawn Kinsey, and Cheryl Buechele for helping them in their time of need.
Thanks for being the BEST dad ever! I Love You!
