Obituary

Myrtle Jane Sherman, 89, of Hyndman, PA, went to be with the Lord Monday, June 20, 2011, at Mon General Hospital, Morgantown, WV.

Born August 31, 1921, in Southampton Twp., she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Katie L. (Bowman) Hosselrode. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell Fred Sherman in 1979, a son, Steven D. Sherman in 2004; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

She is survived by sons, Gerry M. Sherman and wife Altia of Frederick, MD, Jeffrey L. Sherman and wife Nancy McGraw of Hanover, PA ; six grandchildren, Stevie, Scott, Lisa, Lonnie, Lindsay and Corinne; four great grandchildren, Katie, Olivia, Aiden and Grayson; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sherman cleaned homes and offices for many years. She was a member of Living Stone Church of the Brethren, Cumberland. She lived a life of caring for others including her family members and friends. She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, cooking, baking corn bread, apple butter boiling as well as board games with friends and family.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Gerald Hott officiating.

Burial will follow at Porters Cemetery, Hyndman, PA.
