Walter C. Hyde
Bedford, PA Walter C. Hyde, 98, of Bedford died Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Colonial Courtyard.
He was born January 13, 1915, in Manns Choice, PA; a son of the late Calvin and Carrie (Holler) Hyde. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Belle (Gooden) Hyde; sons, William C. Hyde and Harry W. Hyde; and an infant daughter, Esther Mae Hyde; a grandson, Scott Hyde; brothers, Paul, Homer and Ross Hyde.
Survived by a son, Daniel W. Hyde and wife Marsha of Richardson, TX; a daughter, Phyllis D. Helmick and husband Roy of Davis, West Virginia; daughters-in-law, Kay Hyde of Bedford, Kathy Hyde of Denver, CO; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a brother, Ray Hyde of Manns Choice; sisters, Thelma Casebeer of Somerset, Edith Ellifritz of WV, Margaret Burkett and husband Eugene of Akron, OH; and many nieces and nephews.

Walter was a carpenter; he also worked for the State of Pennsylvania as a concrete inspector. He was a truck driver and also drove ambulance on the turnpike. He was a caretaker of Dry Ridge Cemetery for many years and a life member of the Trinity United Church of Christ. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a member of Rocky Ridge Hunting Club.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at Trinity United Church of Christ, Glade Pike, Manns Choice, on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at Dry Ridge Cemetery.
