Obituary

Cumberland, MD – Dorothy “Dot” M. Smith, 79, of Cumberland went to be with the Lord Tuesday May 16, 2017 at Ruby Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
Born April 24, 1938 in Hyndman, PA: she was a daughter of the late William and Myrtle (Walters) Twigg. Also preceded in death by brothers, Carl, Raymond, James, Donald, Robert and Leroy Twigg; sisters, Mary Day, Margaret Kiser and Betty Emerick.
Survived by her husband of 63 years, Frank Smith Sr., whom she married February 19, 1954; two daughters, Linda Dietz and husband Bill; Edith Albright all of Hyndman; two sons, Frank Smith Jr and wife Mary Ellen; Glen Smith and special friend Darlene Gatto all of Cumberland; sisters, Elsie Merkel of Fairhope, Catherine Weyant of New Paris; eight grandchildren, David Dietz, Christine McConahy, Tina Linn, Bobbie Sue Linn, Ashlee Brown, Lisa Mann, Misty Greise, Johna Albright and 12 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Dot was a homemaker. She enjoyed talking walks and spending time with her family.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Terry Elliott officiating.
Burial will follow at Comps Cemetery
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to help defer expenses for the family.
