Obituary

Wellersburg, PA – Effie G. Sturtz, 86, of Wellersburg, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at her home.
Born January 22, 1934, in Wellersburg; she was a daughter of the late William and Daisy (Hook) Emerick. Also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Ellsworth “Bup” Sturtz; son, Jerry “Woody” Sturtz; granddaughter, Crystal Ravenscraft; grandson, Kevin Lynch; brother, Howard “Bud” Emerick; sisters, Marie Murray and Velma Dawson.
Survived by children, Peggy Muir, Helen Lynch and husband Jerry all of Wellersburg, Richard “Blote” Sturtz and wife Karen of Barrellville, MD, Robert “Hawk” Sturtz and wife Tammy of Wellersburg, Ricky “Bud” Sturtz and wife Darla of Pittsburgh, Anna Martin and husband Kenny of Frostburg, and  Harv Sturtz of Wellersburg, sisters, Dorothy Shaffer of Hyndman and Geraldine Zembower of Centerville; 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and her faithful cat, Max.
Effie was a lifelong member of the Wellersburg Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, serving over 47 years. She was involved with all the events and dinners and was know for her famous coleslaw. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday January 8, 2021 from 11 to 1 p.m.
Funeral service will be private.
Burial at Cooks Cemetery, Wellersburg, PA.
