Obituary

Fairhope, PA – Elsie E. Merkel, 91, of Fairhope passed away Sunday December 27, 2020 at Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center.
Born April 9, 1929, in Hyndman; she was a daughter of the late William F. and Myrtle V. (Walters) Twigg. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Merkel; sons, Cecil, Roger, and Charles Merkel; sisters, Betty Emerick, Dorothy Smith, Mary Day, Margaret Kiser, brothers, Donald, Leroy, Raymond, Robert and James Twigg.
Survived by daughters, Alice F. Campbell and husband Robert of Buffalo Mills, Carol Shuey and husband William of Bovard, Doris Shroyer of Fairhope, Nancy Sigwalt and husband Bob of Hyndman, Karen Leydig of Hyndman; sister, Catherine Weyant of New Paris; 27 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Kennells Mill Sportsmen’s Club. She loved life, her children, grandchildren and making new friends.
Services were held privately on Wednesday.
Burial at Hyndman Cemetery.
