Obituary

 James C.  Shaffer, 86, Buffalo Mills passed away at his home surrounded by his family on November 27, 2019.
Born October 9, 1933, at home in Hyndman. He was the last surviving member of the immediate family of his parents Roland James and Nellie I Shaffer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Norma L. (Lowery) Shaffer; siblings, Mick, Ted, Jack & Pete Shaffer, Jeanne Lohr, Mary Jane Elder, Joanne Gaumer and Irene Hillegass; sons-in-law, Lester Lafferty and Owen Lucas; grandsons, Michael and Matthew Lafferty.
He is survived by children, Yvette Witt of Yorktown, VA, Rhonda Lafferty of Port St Lucie, FL, Deborah Grose (Jackie) of Sevierville, TN, Kenneth Shaffer (Diane) Jensen Beach, FL, Catherine Lucas of Port St Lucie, FL and Ashley Shaffer (Kelcy) of Olympia, WA.
He also leaves grandchildren, Amber Millerleile  (Steven) Brian Witt, Andrew Grose, Christopher Grose  (Shannon), David Shaffer (Suzanne),  Daniel Shaffer (Melissa), Angela Simpson (Philip), Sarah Davis (Paul), Joshua Griffiths (Amber), Jason Griffiths, Justin Griffiths, Mary Lucas and James Shaffer; 21 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Jim was a member of First United Methodist Church Hyndman. He served as HVFD fire chief and ambulance attendants for several years. After retiring from Florida Power and Light Jim and Norma built their dream home in Bard Hollow enjoying the life of leisure. Jim served in the Army during the Korean War conflict as Sergeant First Class Master Paratrooper. He was a member of Fort Bedford Honor Guard where he served proudly.
Per his wishes he will be cremated. Graveside service will be held at Hyndman Cemetery with Fort Bedford Honor Guard presiding. Burial and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
