James S. Leydig

Hyndman, PA – James S. Leydig, 89, went home to be with the Lord Monday, January 20, 2025, at his home.

Born October 21, 1935, in Bard; he was a son of the late Hubert M. and Isabel (May) Leydig. Also preceded in death by a brother, William Leydig; sisters, Linda Zembower, Ona Yetter, and Virginia Lankey.

Survived by his wife of 67 years, Glenna J. (Rizer) Leydig, whom he married August 31, 1957; sons, Jeff Leydig and wife Cheri of Walkersville, MD, Dale Leydig and wife Kim of Hagerstown, MD, Jimmy Leydig and wife Patti of Hyndman, Derek Leydig and wife Jodi of Port Matilda, PA; sisters, Mary Ellen Littlefield of Bedford, Peggy Kidd of Buffalo Mills, Phyllis Bryant of Hyndman; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was a tire builder at Kelly Springfield Tire Co. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, Hyndman Londonderry Lions Club where he served as Past President and received the Melvin Jones Award. He was on the Board of Directors for the Hyndman Area Health Center. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He coached baseball and was inducted into the Bedford County Sports Hall of Fame and received a PennMar lifetime achievement award.

Friends will be received at the Grace United Methodist Church, Schellsburg St., Hyndman on Saturday January 25, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. where a Lion’s Service and a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rod Spiker officiating.

Burial will follow at Hyndman Cemetery, Hyndman.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hy-Lo Lions Club.
