Obituary

Hyndman, PA – Janice  S. “Pinky” Leister, 78, went to be with the Lord Thursday December  30, 2021 at her home, where she wanted to be.
Janice was born August 17,1943 in Cumberland, MD; a daughter of the late Jerald N. and Jeannette M. (Roberson) Barrett. She was also preceded in death by a son, Alan E. Leister II, two grandchildren, Tyler Leister and Hope Leister, brother, James “Moe” Barrett; and sister, Kathleen Herath.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Alan E. Leister I; son, Shawn W. Leister and wife Shelly; daughter-in-law, Christina M. Leister; granddaughters, Dr. Alyssa Bartlett and husband Travis, Shania Emerick and husband Tyler, great granddaughters, Sawyer Gwendolyn Bartlett and Charlotte “Charlie” June Emerick; and a great grandson, Rhys Alan Bartlett. She is also survived by sister, Gerri Yaider; brother-in-law, John Herath; sister-in-law, Judy Barrett; numerous nieces and nephews.
Janice graduated from Fort Hill High School, Class of 1961, but had previously attended Berlin Brothersvalley High School in Berlin, PA. She also attended Frostburg State University before getting married.
She was employed at Children’s Medical Group in Cumberland for over 29 years before retiring in 2005. She enjoyed her flower gardens, walking and spending time with her husband and their Shelties, Candi, Sugar, Shammy, and Rosie.
Janice was the treasurer for the Hyndman Cub Scouts for over 25 years and was a long-time treasurer and member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Hyndman Volunteer Fire Company.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made Hyndman Area Rescue Squad or Hyndman Londonderry Lions Club.
