Obituary

Hyndman, PA – Joyce E. Pensyl, 77, of Hyndman, passed away September 19, 2022.
Born May 5, 1945 in Hyndman; she was a daughter of the late Claude B. and Nellie Mae (Bruck) Shaffer. She is also preceded in death by; brothers, John, Bob, Stephen, Earl, Douglas, and  Claude “Jitter” Shaffer; sisters, Betty Ours, and Mona “Peggy” Atwood; a grandson, Joshua Hosselrode.
Survived by her husband of 58 years, Stanley Pensyl; whom she married, June 20, 1964; a daughter, Thea Hosselrode and husband Marvin; a son, Matthew Pensyl; grandchildren, Brandon Hosselrode and wife Grace, Jeffrey Hosselrode; brothers, Richard “Dick” Shaffer, Glenn “Pug” Shaffer and wife, Vickie; sisters, Wanda Bistline and husband, Les, all of Hyndman, Martha ‘Marce” Johnston and husband, Jim, of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was a graduate of Hyndman High School. She had worked at G.C. Murphy, Ben Franklin and Hyndman High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 40 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and Crafty Christians. She was also involved in her husband’s church, First United Church of Christ and the Ladies Aid.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman, on Friday September 23, 2022, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home, Saturday September 24, 2022, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Tomislav Dosch, The Rev. Ryan Viands and Pastor Derek Platt officiating. Viewing one hour prior.
Burial will follow at Hyndman Cemetery.
