Obituary

Mary Ellen Wise, 90, of Hyndman, died, Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at WMHS Regional Medical Center.

Born December 9, 1920 in Hyndman, she was a daughter of the late Noah C. and Pearl W. (Blough) Cook. She married her husband, Paulmer A. Wise in Ellerslie, MD September 9, 1941. He preceded her in death in1988 as well as her brothers, Robert, Charles and Raymond Cook.

She is survived by a daughter, Reeve Shaffer and husband Lewis of Cumberland, MD; three sons, Lesley A. Wise and wife Marianne of Frederick, MD; Charles R. Wise of Surrey, VA, Douglas E. Wise of East Over, SC; a brother, George E. Cook and wife Maeline of LaVale, MD; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; nephews, special nieces and grandnieces.

Mrs. Wise was a waitress for various restaurants in the Pittsburgh Area and White Sulphur Springs for many years. She was the 1940 Queen of Hyndman. She was lovingly known as “Nanny” and “Bunny” to those who knew her. She will be sorely missed.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1p.m. with the Rev. Sharletta Green officiating.

Burial will follow at Hyndman Cemetery with Taylor Martin, Mark Wise, Brent Wise, Tom Wise, Josh Straw, and John Straw serving as pallbearers.
