Obituary
Ross Earl Harclerode, 86, of Buffalo Mills, passed away, Sunday, November 22, 2009, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.
Born November 21, 1923, in Duquesne, PA, the son of the late Simon Ross and Mary Edith (Geller) Harclerode. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Ross Earl Harclerode Jr.; and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Jackie Gordon.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mae Smith Harclerode, whom he married March 24, 1951; three daughters, Shirley Jean married to Arthur Leister of Manns Choice, Sandra married to Robert Gordon of Buffalo Mills, Mary Ohler of Manns Choice, a son, Robert J. Harclerode married to the former Doris Jean Lyons of Buffalo Mills; ten grandchildren, Timothy James Leister, Jeremy Alan Leister married to the former Justine Nee, Christopher Aaron Leister married to the former Jamie King, Cortney Beth Leister, Jerod Robert Gordon, Travis Lee Bohn, Zachary Ryan Ohler, Robert James Harclerode II, Kristen Alyse Harclerode, Jenna Mae Harclerode; two great grandchildren, Jillian Michelle Leister and Elizabeth Grace Leister.
Mr. Harclerode was a life long farmer and avid hunter. He served as Juniata Township Supervisor for 30 years. He was also a heavy equipment operator for various companies before retiring from Penn Dot with 25 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Somerset Eagles Club.
Mr. Harclerode’s lifelong passion was playing country music and bluegrass with his many friends. Ross Earl was well known for his signature song. “I’m thinking tonight of my Blue Eyes.”
Ross Earl was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be sadly missed by family and many friends.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Merle Correll officiating.
Burial will follow at Schellsburg Cemetery, Schellsburg, PA.
