Obituary

Wellersburg, PA – Violet J. Shockey, 83, of Wellersburg went home to be with the Lord, Sunday November 18, 2018 at the home of her son surrounded by her family.
Born December 21, 1934, in Wellersburg; she was a daughter of the late Charles and Jennie (Kennell) Weimer. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Rev. Edward E. Shockey whom she married December 25, 1953; sisters, Gladys Powers and Phyllis McKenzie.
Survived by a son, Gary Shockey and wife Terry of Barrelville, MD; a daughter, Denise Bonner and husband John of Wellersburg;  two  grandchildren, Mindy Brailer and husband Michael of Mt. Savage, Brandon Shockey and girlfriend Chai Craze of Barrelville, MD; great granddaughter Paisley Brailer and another great grandchild expected in May. Also special friends Winnie and Paul Martz; niece and nephew, Sonny and Diana McKenzie and Sandy Shumaker.
Violet worked as a sales associate at Gordon’s Jewelry for many years. She was a graduate of Meyersdale High School and a member of Comps Church. She enjoyed cooking for her family and decorating for the holidays. Recently she enjoyed the monthly hymn sings at Zion Community Church in Wellersburg.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Tuesday November 20, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at Zion Community Church, 14963 Main St., Wellersburg on Wednesday November 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Pastors Robert Williams, Roger Huffman, and Jim Jeffries officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at White Oaks Cemetery, Meyersdale. Brandon Shockey, Michael Brailer, Danny Cessna, Dick Donelson, Ronnie Emerick and Lenny Emerick will serve as pallbearers.
