Obituary

Hyndman, PA – John Leo McCoy, 81, of Hyndman went to be with the Lord Monday December 4, 2023 at his home.
Born September 8, 1942, in Cooks Mill; he was a son of the late Joseph and Sylvia (Clark) McCoy. He is also preceded in death by sister, Marjorie Shroyer, brother, William McCoy.
Survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy (Emerick) McCoy; brother, Robert McCoy and wife Paulette all of Hyndman; and many nieces and nephews.
John attended Calvary Bible Church and Faith Community Church. He served in the US Air Force. After being discharged he worked for Walter Yoder Construction, then got involved in the Space Program, and worked 3 years for NASA’s Mississippi Test Facility. He then became a welder and went to Ingall Shipyard. He retired from DuPont after 20 years and then operated McCoys Maintenance for 15 years.
John and Dorothy spent 25 winters in Florida. He was an Ordained Deacon for 53 years and for 10 years joined mission construction workers to do renovations or new construction on churches. He enjoyed hunting and riding his motorcycle.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday December 8, 2023 from 3 to 5 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday December 9, 2023 at 11 a.m. with Pastors Ken Korns and Terry Campbell officiating.  Viewing one hour prior.
Burial will follow at Cooks Mill Cemetery.
