Everett, PA Alma R. Messerman, 73, of Everett, died Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Pennknoll Village.
Born January 15, 1939, in Riddlesburg; she was a daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Yon) Eltman. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Junior, Ernest, John and Timothy Eltman.
Mrs. Messerman was a truck driver. She drove for Florida Refrigerated Trucking, Bowman Transportation, Noerrs Motor Freight, and Pioneer Transport. She was also the first female cement truck driver.
Alma was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Bedford Kingdom Hall Congregation.
She is survived by her husband of 37years, Eugene Messerman; children, Cindy Mock of Everett, Donna Dick of Strongstown, Donnie Lemin Jr. of Glen Burnie, MD, Anthony Lemin of Everett, Dean Lemin of Hopewell and Dorothy Hall of Everett; adopted children, Andrew Lemin of Williamsburg, Greg Eltman of California, Sharon Eltman of Mexico, PA; sisters, Anna Duvall of Bedford, Ruth Rankin of Hopewll, Judy Quarry of Mexico, PA, Jean Greene of Todd, Jane Van Meter of Titusville, FL, Linda Gibson of Everett; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and a great great grandson; also many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Messerman was a breast cancer survivor and a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Friends are invited to a memorial service at 1 pm on Wednesday November 14th, at the Bedford Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Society or the National MS Society.
