BETTY LOUISE (CLOSE) SHAFFER

Frostburg, MD Betty Louise (Close) Shaffer, 85, formerly of Ellerslie, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Frostburg Village.

Born March 29, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Clifton H. Close and Nellie (Shroyer) Close. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Duane F. Shaffer; two brothers, Charles Close, Hyndman, PA and the Rev. Robert Close, Lewisburg, PA.

A homemaker, Betty was a lifetime member of the Ellerslie United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Betty has one sister, Peggy A. Emerick, of Frostburg, Md. She is survived by two sisters-in-law; Phyllis Close of Lewisburg, PA and Georgia Close of Hyndman, PA. Betty has one son, Gary L. Shaffer and wife Rosalie Shaffer of Bradenton, FL. She has one daughter Dr. Karen L. Golden, and husband Dr. Clarence Golden of LaVale. Betty has one beloved grandson, Jason E. Golden of Tampa, Fl. Betty also had many special nieces and a nephew and extended family and friends that she loved very much.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Ellerslie United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellerslie United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ted Marsh officiating.

Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ellerslie United Methodist Church.
