Edward E. Shockey

Wellersburg, PA – Rev. Edward E. Shockey, 78, of Wellersburg, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 22, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 31, 1933 in Confluence, PA; he was a son of the late Lewis and Naomi (Mankemyer) Shockey. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Rev. James Shockey.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Violet J. (Weimer) Shockey, whom he married, December 25, 1953; a son, Gary Shockey and wife Terry of Barrelville, MD; a daughter, Denise Bonner and husband John of Wellersburg; two grandchildren, Mindy and Brandon Shockey; brothers, Lewis Shockey Jr of Detroit, Mich., Dale Shockey and wife Jean of Cumberland; sisters, Genevieve Crissinger of Meyersdale, Audrey Fields and husband Oris of Norlina, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

Rev. Shockey was the Pastor of Comps Church in Hyndman PA for 31 years. He also worked as a heavy equipment operator on the Railroad for 42 years retiring in 1995.

Ed Loved his family, his church and his church family.

He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was a member of many local sporting and outdoor clubs. He also served on the Wellersburg Town Counsel for 10 years.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at Comps Church, Southampton Twp, Hyndman PA on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastors Robert Williams and Roger Huffman officiating.

Burial will follow at White Oaks Cemetery, Meyersdale. Bob Engle, Harry Hutzell, Leroy Deneen, Dick Donelson, Ronnie Emerick and Lenny Emerick will serve as pallbearers.
