Gerald W. “Jerry” Kennell, 80, died Thursday, March 22, 2012 at his home.

Born March 21, 1932, in Kennells Mill; he was a son of the late Roy E. and Naomi B. (Emerick) Kennell. He was also preceded in death by a brothers, Stanley and John Kennell; sisters, Idella Mae Lucero, Madeline Dom, Emma Bittner, Arvada Ruth Imler and Alzene Sweitzer.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ilene M. (Emerick) Kennell, whom he married October 12, 1957; sisters, Frances Troutman and husband Richard, Marian Romesberg, Marybelle White all of Kennells Mill and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kennell served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He had worked on the Railroad and in the steel mill. He operated a Timber business for over 40 years. He also served as a Forest Fire Warden for many years.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11a.m. with Pastor Roger Huffman officiating.

Burial will follow at Comps Cemetery, Southampton Twp., Somerset County, with military honors by the Ft. Bedford Honor Guard.
