Hyndman, PA – Glenn Harold Corley, 76, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Born February 7, 1936, in Berlin; he was a son of the late Frank Corley and Mabel Fisher Corley Smith. He was also preceded in death by a step daughter, Vicki Sager; and a half brother, Richard Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Evelyn Sue (Kennell) Corley, whom he married November 28, 1980; two daughters, Diana Weimer and husband William of Fort Mill, SC; Gay Findley and husband Robert of New Paris; a son, Glenn E. Corley and wife Susan (Fochtman) of Hagerstown, MD; two step daughters, Sandy Shippey and husband Barry of Bedford, Tracie Campbell and husband Dale of Hyndman; five grandchildren, Amy Bennett and husband Scott, Heather Weimer, John Findley and wife Laura, Devin Corley, and Kyle Corley; four step-grandchildren, Brett Shippey, Marcus Shippey, Lindsay Campbell, and Lucas Campbell; three great grandchildren, Emma and Lexi Bennett, and Hailey Findley; a brother: Don Corley of Buffalo Mills; a sister: Elizabeth Corley of Lebanon, PA; five half brothers and sisters: Elwood Smith and wife Brunnetta, Larry Smith and wife Angie, Barbara Smith and friend Bob, Stanley Smith and wife Sue, Carol Mihaly and husband Pete.
Glenn’s first job was cutting paper wood and then continued on with Eddie Shaffer as a truck driver. He then purchased his own rigging truck and drove as an independent driver starting in 1965 for McQuaide Company. He went on to become an owner/operator of George Transfer Rigging Co. later named as Malone Freight Line being awarded 3 million safe driver miles. He later retired from this company. After retirement, Glenn worked for Somerset Welding and Steel delivering new trucks.
Glenn served in the U.S. Army on active duty from 1956 to 1958 and then the Reserves until 1962. He attended Bethel Gravel Pit United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ken Korns officiating.
Burial will follow at Comps Cemetery, Southampton Twp., Somerset County.
