Buffalo Mills, PA Jack E. Bower, 80, died Saturday, April 26, 2014, at UPMC Altoona. Born November 26, 1933, in Hyndman; he was a son of the late Grant and Cora (Snyder) Bower. He is also preceded in death by a son, Edward Bower and a brother, Terry Bower.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois (Carpenter) Bower; whom he married May 16, 1953; a son, William Bower of Glendale, AZ; daughter, Karen Thompson and husband Glenn of Hyndman, Cheryl Morgan and husband William of Manns Choice; daughter-in-law, Robyn Bower of Glendale, AZ; brothers, James Bower and wife Shirley of Frederick, MD, Ronald Bower and wife Judy of Canton, OH; a sister, Barbara Mason and husband Kermit of Canton, OH; sister-in-law, Florene Bower of Cumberland; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.
Mr. Bower was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the CSX Railroad where he had been an operator. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at a later date.
