Ellerslie, MD  Lela Mae Speelman, 84, of Ellerslie, MD, died Saturday, January 8, 2011, at Golden Heights Assisted Living, Harrison City, PA..

Born July 4, 1926 in Kitzmiller, MD; she was a daughter of the late Lemuel and Thelma (Browning) Knotts. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer A. Harden and a brother, Bob Knotts.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Leroy “Gert” Speelman; children, Christian M. Harden and wife Debbie of Hyndman; Aleta M. Dick and husband Tom of Jeannette, PA, Larry D. Harden and wife Edna, Garry O. Harden and wife Lucia both of Houston TX, John C. Harden and wife Sara of Orlando FL, Kenny W. Harden and wife Kay of Hyndman; step children, Tom W. Speelman and wife Carol of York Haven, PA, Sue E. Carder of Ellerslie; 17 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

Mae was a homemaker and a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Kennells Mill Sportsmens Club and the Ellerslie Outdoor Club.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lance Tucker officiating.

Burial will be private at Porters Cemetery, Hyndman, PA

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ellerslie Rescue Squad or Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Department.
