Mary E. Stahlman

Mary E. Stahlman, 93, of Hyndman, died Friday, February 26, 2010, at her home.

Born May 21, 1916, in Buffalo Mills, she was a daughter of the late Lorenzo Smith and Emma (Housel) Smith, and step-father, Albert Smith.

On July 1 1933, she married Perl C. “Bailey” Stahlman, who preceded her in death in 1976. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Mabel M. Smith, Delores E. Smith, Ethel M. (Smith) Mays; and two brothers, Ross E and Irvin A. Smith.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald, of Hyndman, and Clifford, married to Paula (McVicker) Stahlman of Buffalo Mills.

Also surviving are a sister, Dorothy (Smith) Stuby, and the following grandchildren; Cindy (Stahlman) Sapp and husband Jeff, Cheri (Stahlman) Kramer and husband Earl, Ronda (Stahlman) LaGorda and husband Angelo, C. Shawn Stahlman and wife Johanna, and two step grandchildren, Joseph and Michael Lydinger. She is in addition a proud great grandmother of nine and great-great grandmother of six.

Mrs. Stahlman was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hyndman. Briefly, she worked at the former Celanese Corporation in Cumberland, until she and her husband opened the Perl C. Stahlman Texaco Station in 1949. After Mr. Stahlman’s death in 1976, she continued to manage their business until 1980. She was able to enjoy her original home beside the Texaco for 74 years.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Sunday, February 28th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, March 1st at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lance Tucker officiating.

Burial will follow at Madley Cemetery, Buffalo Mills.
