Mary Ellen Shroyer
Ellerslie, MD Mary Ellen Shroyer, 89, of Ellerslie, died, Monday May 19, 2014, Golden Living Center.
Born August 27, 1924 in Ellerslie; she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Bertie (Stouffer) Leydig. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Irvin J. “Jude” Shroyer, whom she married January 8, 1946; a brother, George Lybarger; sisters, Mabel Sturtz, Almeda Myers, Amy Miller, Grace Miller, and Alzene Johnson.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Ahlburn and husband Lane of Ellerslie, grandchildren, Aaron L. Ahlburn of Los Angeles, CA, Andrea E. Goodpasture and husband Miles of Richardson, TX; a great grandson, Adam S. Goodpasture; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Ellen was a clerk at DeVores Market for 46 years. Prior to that she was a secretary at McCroys Department Store. She was a member of the Ellerslie United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Mary Ellen was well known for her puppeteer work at the Ellerslie Vacation Bible School.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Ellerslie United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellerslie United Methodist Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ted Marsh officiating.
Burial will follow at Lybarger Cemetery, Buffalo Mills, PA.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ellerslie United Methodist Church or the Board of Child Care, 3300 Gaither Rd., Baltimore, MD 21244
