Robert C. Cook, 97, of 3547 Hyndman Rd., passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born January 14, 1914, in Hyndman, he was a son of the late J. Howard and Annie Belle (Rizer) Cook. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ima (Shaffer) Cook on September 3, 2010; three brothers, G. Allen Cook, E. Paul Cook. And Thomas F. Cook.
Mr. Cook worked in the Extrusion Department of Celanese Corporation for over 40 years. He attended Cathermans Business School. He was a member of the Hyndman Grange, Hyndman Senior Citizens and the Hyndman Cemetery Association. While his wife, Martha, was a patient of the Lions Center for almost 7 years, he would visit four or more times a week.
He is survived by his children, Rose Marie McElfish and husband, Charles of Cumberland, Charles Cook and wife Joyce of Ridgeley, WV, and Janet Holler and husband, Allen of Hyndman; a sister-in-law, Datha Burkett of Manns Choice; a brother-in-law, Wayne Shaffer of Bedford; as well as seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Tomislav Dosch officiating.
Burial will be private at Hyndman Cemetery, Hyndman, PA.
