Robert Elwood Campbell

Buffalo Mills, PA – Robert Elwood Campbell, 87 of Buffalo Mills went to be with the Lord, Monday, February 28, 2011, at Altoona Regional Hospital.

He was born December 3, 1923, in Hyndman, PA; a son of the late Fred M. and Stella Mae (Deneen) Campbell. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Dorothy A. (Elbin) Campbell in 2007; a grandson, Sean E. Campbell in 1991; and a sister, Ethel Lafferty.

He is survived by nine children, Robert R. Campbell and wife Alice (Mearkle) of Buffalo Mills; Laura E. Shaffer and husband Lawrence of Hyndman; William C. Campbell and wife Diane (Shaffer) of Buffalo Mills; Vanessa G. Shaffer and husband Ronald of Manns Choice; Fred R. Campbell and wife Jennifer (Hinish) of Clayton, NC; Gay D. Twigg and husband James Jr. of Buffalo Mills; Faith J. Price and husband Donald Jr. of Bedford; Irma J. Miller and husband Paul of Brockway; and Nancy K. Lafferty and husband Dale of Buffalo Mills; 26 grandchildren, Angie, Robert Jr., Shannon, Sean, Anne, Ruth, Michelle, Becky, Jessica, Ronnie, Jennifer, Amanda, Clint, Missy, Jimmy, Amber, Travis, Autumn, Donnie, Tyler, Trista, Brandy, Josh, Ryan, Krystal, and Stephen; 32 great grandchildren, Cody, Mikala, Alexa, Kiara, Cole, Laken, Shayla, Britney, Logan, Jaylyn, McKinly, Kia, Mikala, Alyssa, Juliana, Stella, Nevaeh, Macie, Anna, Alyssa, Kendra, Andrea, Olivia, Carter, Freddie, Madison, Miley, Harley, Landon, Addison, Mikala and Haleigh; one great-great granddaughter, Natalie; brothers, Glenn Campbell, Clyde Campbell, Earl Campbell and Donald Campbell; sisters, Mabel Burkett, Elizabeth Stuby, Dorothy Turner, Rosalee Stahlman and Mildred Miller all of Hyndman.

Mr. Campbell was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII in the Calvary in Germany and France.

Robert retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Company after 32 years. He was member of the Buffalo Mills United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, watching the Steelers and Pirates, spending time with all of his grandchildren and the children at his daughter Faith’s daycare.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark Griffith officiating.

Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Juniata Twp., Bedford County with military honors by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
