Wayne A. Thompson, 83, of Hyndman, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at WMHS Regional Medical Center.
Born November 17, 1928, in Hyndman, PA; he was a son of the late Winfield C. and Mary Helen (McGregor) Thompson . He is also preceded in death by brothers David and Glenn Thompson.
Survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley L. (Bittner) Thompson, whom he married September 24, 1948; a daughter, Crystal Long and husband Brad of LaVale, MD; a son, Royce Thompson; a grandson, Brandon Long of LaVale, MD. a brother, Edward Thompson and wife Lana of Wellersburg, PA, and five sisters; Althea C Rowley and husband Sonny of Wellersburg, PA; Mary Kate Varner of Ohio; A. Louise Martz and husband Dale; Winny L Martz and husband Paul; Elaine Logsdon and husband Terry all of Hyndman; Jean T. Kraivel of SC; and many nieces and nephews.
Wayne worked for E.J. Shaffer Excavating for more than 40 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Brandon. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11a.m.
Burial will follow at Palo Alto Hilltop Cemetery, Hyndman.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or COPD Foundation.
The family would thank Dr. Steven Klein and his staff, Dawnetta, Michelle, and Janie for the care that they gave him during his treatment.
