Obituary

Bedford, PA – A. Marie Leister, 86, of Bedford went to be with the Lord Sunday March 1, 2015 at her home.
Born May 9, 1928 in Hyndman; she was a daughter of the late Ira Zane and Ruth Mae (McGregor) Shaffer. She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Leister, a granddaughter, Suzanne Harclerode; sisters, Regina McGregor, Mabel Baker; and a brother, Paul Shaffer.
Survived by her husband of 65 years, Elwood H. Leister, whom she married January 21, 1950 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church on Hyndman; children, Paul Leister and wife Dawn (Miller), Connie Harclerode and husband Robert, Daniel Leister and wife Kelly(Foor), John Leister and wife Sherry (Renk), all of Bedford; Jenny Wagoner, of Everett, Mary Baker and husband Les, Laura Hyde and husband David, both of Bedford; a brother, Edgar Shaffer of Hyndman; 18 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 3 step great grandchildren.
Marie was a member of Springhope Brethren in Christ Church, Schellsburg. She taught Sunday school and was a member of the ladies aid.
She was a 1946 graduate of Hyndman High School. She worked Liberty Trust in Cumberland prior to having children. She was a homemaker, provided day care and a van driver for New Hope Care Center. She loved baking and was famous for her bread, sweet rolls, pies and donuts.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Merle Horton and Rev. Daniel Leister officiating
Burial will follow at Hyndman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Springhope Brethren in Christ Church, 2063 Valley Rd.
