Hyndman, PA – Alice “Jeanie” Minnick, 74, of Hyndman, stepped into eternity on Thursday September 29, 2016 after a courageous battle with bone cancer. She was surrounded by her children whom she devoted her life to.

Known as “little Jeanie Minnick” she began her life in Barrellville the daughter of the late Cecil William and Lela Verna (Collins) Bridges. Jeanie married the love of her life, Richard D. “Sam” Minnick Sr on November 30, 1957 at the age of 17. Soon afterwards their family began. Sam preceded her in death along with her older brother, Kenneth Bridges and a brother-in-law, Rich O’Baker, sister-in-law, Sue Bridges.

The marriage brought three children into the world, Cynthia M. Shaffer and husband Roger of Hyndman, Richard D. “Rick” Minnick Jr and wife Jan of Centerville, Verna Burkett and companion Jeff Dermer of Hyndman; MeMe has five grandchildren, Rich Minnick and wife Cindy, Bobbi Schetrompf and husband Trevor, Shauna Burkett, Caleb Shaffer, and Becca Shaffer; 2 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, Ella Minnick, Jack and Reagan Schetrompf, Kamden and Kallen Hamilton; 2 step great grandchildren. Her siblings that survive are, Wanda “Molly” O’Baker, Francis “Butch” Bridges, Earl “Mose” Bridges and wife Betty, David Bridges and wife Linda, Tom Bridges and companion Gloria; a sister-in-law, Mary Bridges.

Jeanie worked as a homemaker, teaching her children how to cook, home canning, and maintain their homes. Her children fondly remember her as never meeting a stranger. Everyone was a friend or became part of her family. She also worked as a housekeeper and caretaker for several local families. Jeanie attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. She lived her faith.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Monday October 3rd  from 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday October 4th  at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Tomislav Dosch and her grandson, Pastor Caleb Shaffer officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Hyndman Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.
