Bertha C. Emerick, age 99, of Buffalo Mills, PA ended her earthly life peacefully at her home on June 8, 2024. May her soul take flight and rise swiftly to at last behold her Savior’s face! She was born June 5, 1925, in Wellersburg, PA, a daughter of the late Harry and Edna (Rizer) Cook. On December 4, 1948, she married her best friend, Clyde C. Emerick. Sadly after 55 years of marriage, on June 2, 2003, she found him in the early morning peacefully at rest in his rocking chair.

God blessed them with a loving daughter, Linda and husband Lynn Frazier of Buffalo Mills, PA, cherished grandchildren, Christopher Frazier and girlfriend, Jeannette Dwire, and her son, Blake Dwire, of Hyndman, PA, and Lauren and husband Jeremy Logsdon of Bedford, PA. When she was in her nineties, God again blessed her with 2 adored great grandsons, Flynn Michael and Jerren Christopher Logsdon. Her grandchildren and all their friends knew her as Mimi.

Bertha told many tales of growing up in a family with 5 brothers and 4 sisters! Preceding her in death were brothers Jesse, Albert, Harry Jr, Robert, and Paul Cook; sisters Marian Little, and Blanche Bingman. She is survived by sisters, Darlene Ringler and husband George of Conway, SC, and Florence Cook of Hemet, CA., as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Many happy days were spent with caring grandparents, Francis Rizer and Christopher and Effie Emerick.

In her late teens she became an active member of Lybarger Lutheran Church, now Christ Lutheran, of Madley, PA. She faithfully served her Lord and church family in many ways throughout the years and especially enjoyed being Financial Secretary for 13 years. She graduated from Hyndman High School and attended Catherman’s Business School. Prior to her marriage she worked for 5 years at Celanese Corp. in Cumberland, MD. Bertha loved being a stay-at-home wife and mom until her daughter went to college. She then was employed for 27 years at Hoblitzell National Bank, Hyndman, PA and their State Line  Branch in Ellerslie, MD where she served as manager and assistant cashier. After retiring in 1993, she and her husband operated B&C Maple Products. They enjoyed camping, fishing on the lakes in their boat, and attending auctions.

The family wishes to thank all of her wonderful nurses and caregivers from Grane Hospice, as well as her personal and devoted caregiver, Linda Fazenbaker.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, PA. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and 10 AM until the hour of the celebration of life service which will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Madley, PA on Thursday, June 13 2024 at 11 AM.
