Hyndman, PA – Catharine Marie Smith, 94, of Hyndman passed away Thursday January 5, 2017 at Pennknoll Nursing Home.

Born March7, 1922 in Gravel Pit, PA; she was a daughter of the late Henry M. and Catharine M. (Smith) Elliott. She was also preceded in death by husband John W. Smith in 1982; sisters, Elsie Linnan, Ruth Gelder, Stella Wilson, and Margaret Elliott; brothers, Charles, Chester, Elmer, Harvey, Robert, Walter and John Elliott.

Survived by a son Charles M. Smith and wife Linda of Buffalo Mills, grandchildren, Bradley C. Smith of Hyndman, Kelly A. Adams and husband Robert of Stevens City, VA; great grandchildren Nicholas and Olivia Adams; Damien, Andrew, Alexander and Mason Smith; many nieces and nephews.

Catharine worked at the Fairfoot Shoe Factory and was the Owner of Smith Grocery Store on Church St in Hyndman. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s Group, and the Oscar Jordan VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 12 to 2pm where a funeral service will follow at 2 pm with Pastor Fred Zickefoose officiating.

Burial will follow at Hyndman Cemetery, Hyndman, PA.
