Charles Merle Kirchner, 80, of Hyndman, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at WMHS Regional Medical Center

Born May 10, 1936, in Buffalo Mills, PA;  he was a son of the late Charles and Lucretia (Fait) Kirchner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Janice (Billips) Kirchner in 1996; sisters, Anna Stuby, Goldie Bingman, Pauline Seigner, and Mae Miller.

Survived by sons, Robin E. Kirchner and wife Kelli of Cumberland; Chris C. Kirchner and wife Katrina of Martinsburg, WV; a daughter, Melissa A. Kirchner of Winston-Salem, NC; six grandchildren, Erick Kirchner, Stacey Currie and husband Jimmy, Christie Combs, Amy Combs, Jacob and Brayden Kirchner and Taylor Severt; a great granddaughter, Reese Currie; sisters, Janet Main and Marlene Swauger-Turner both of Hyndman; brothers-in-law, Wayne Phillips and wife Anita, Barry Phillips and wife Marsha, a nephew, James Swauger Jr., and wife Rea Anna, nieces, Jenny Beal and husband Leonard  and Pam Barnes and their families; also special friends, Tim, Vickie and Matt Burkett.

Merle was a faithful and founding member of Living Waters Ministries, Cumberland. He also attended his nephew’s church, the Fairhope Community Church. In his younger years he attended the Apostolic Lighthouse. He retired from Crown, Cork and Seal in Winchester, VA. He served in the US Army. He was an avid Pittsburgh Sports Fan and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also a member of the Hyndman Senior Citizens.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robin Kirchner officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery. Military honors by the American Legion Post 13 Honor Guard.
