Wellersburg, PA – Charles Robinette, 87, of Wellersburg passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at WMHS Regional Medical Center
Born September 25, 1926, in Cumberland, MD; he was a son of the late Charles O. and Bertha E. (Long) Robinette. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Neil Robinette, who was killed in action during WWII.
Survived by his wife of 64 years, Jessie (Rice) Robinette; sons, Neil and Gary Robinette of Wellersburg; a brother, Larry Robinette and wife, Phyllis of Shelby, OH; sisters, Lois Cessna and Alice Dietz of Glenco; sister-in-law, Lillian Adams of Mt. Savage, MD and several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, “Super Sam” Deitz of Glenco.
Mr. Robinette served in the US Army Air Corps. during WWII, where he served in the Panama Canal Zone. He was a life member of the VFW Old Rail Post 6025, Mount Savage, MD. and a member of the Mt. Harmony United Methodist Church, Wellersburg.
Mr. Robinette was a 1944 graduate of Meyersdale High School where he played baseball, football and basketball. He had many fond memories of playing baseball with his friends in the Penn Mar Baseball League. He coached his sons Little League Teams. He also enjoyed playing golf with family and friends. At the age of 73 he scored his age of 73.
He enjoyed traveling and took a special anniversary trip to Hawaii with his wife Jessie. He often took his wife out for special Sunday and Holiday dinners. They also enjoyed taking many walks together “out the lane” near their home.
At the request of the deceased, he will be cremated.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday July 25th from 6 to 8 p.m.
