Hyndman, PA – Claude H. “Jitter” Shaffer, 83, of Hyndman passed away Wednesday February 2, 2022 at his home.

Born July 7, 1938 in Hyndman; he was a son of the late Claude B. and Nellie Mae (Bruck) Shaffer. He is also preceded in death by a grandson, Seth Shaffer; brothers, John, Bob, Stephen, Earl and Douglas Shaffer; sisters, Betty Ours, and Mona “Peggy” Atwood.

Survived by his wife, Linda K. (Minnick) Shaffer; children, Tina Ingram and husband Rich of Imler, Michael “Micky” Shaffer and wife Dawn of Hyndman, grandchildren, Bryan Shaffer and wife Linsey, Tyler Ingram and Katie Ingram; great grandchildren, Logan, Breydon and Ellie; brothers, Richard “Dick” Shaffer, Glenn “Pug” Shaffer and wife Vickie, sisters, Wanda Bistline and husband Les, Joyce Pensyl and husband Stanley all of Hyndman, Martha ‘Marce” Johnston and husband Jim of North Carolina; special nephew, Glenn “Birdie” Ours; as well as good friend, Jerry Silver; and his Hillbilly Haven Family.

Mr. Shaffer served in the USMC. He had worked at ABL and the Celanese Corp. He retired from Bedford School District after 36 years in maintenance at the Hyndman Schools. He was a member of the Hyndman Rod and Gun Club, Kennells Mill Sportsmen’s Club, Paradise Valley Sportsmen’s Club, Ellerslie Sportsmen’s Club and a life member of the Hyndman VFW Oscar Jordan Post 7375.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Monday February 7, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Tuesday February 8, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Derek Platt and Rev. Dr. Tomislav Dosch. Viewing one hour prior.

Burial will follow at Hyndman Cemetery with military honors by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made Hyndman Area Rescue Squad.
