Bowie, MD – Darlene A. (Rizer) Carter, 83, of Bowie, MD, passed away December 15, 2017 at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, MD.

Born October 6, 1934 in Hyndman; she was a daughter of the late Charles Harry and Frances Elizabeth (Stair) Rizer. She was also preceded in death by a son Michael Lynn Carter.

Survived by her husband Herbert Eugene Carter, whom she married September 9, 1952; a daughter, Jamie Carter Sullivan and husband Stephen of Eldersburg, MD; grandchildren Casey Nicole Sullivan and Carter Matthew Sullivan; a sister Glenna J. Leydig and husband James of Hyndman; brothers, Jack C. Rizer of Hyndman and Terry H. Rizer of Zephyrhills, FL and many nieces and nephews.

Darlene was a graduate of Hyndman High School. She retired from the Criminal Investigative Division at Fort Meade.

 An intimate ceremony will take place for family and friends on Wednesday at 1pm at Harvey H Zeigler Funeral Home Inc. 169 Clarence St., Hyndman.
