Hyndman, PA – David E. Thorne, 86, of Hyndman passed away March 29, 2024 at Goodwill Nursing Home, Grantsville with his family by his side.

Born June 13, 1937, in Petersburg, WV; a son of the late Earl Dewey and Blanche N. (Wolfe) Thorne. Also preceded in death by his wife, Kay L. (Jamison) Thorne in 1994; brothers, Vernon and Emory Thorne; sisters, Jean Slider and Marie Shulte.

Survived by children, Kathy Cook (Jon) of Augusta, WV, Robin Robinson (Douglas) of Chesterfield, VA, Patty Shroyer (Troy) of Hyndman; grandchildren, Chris Cessare (Lajla), Mia Cessare (Ricky Marr), Teresa Tilley (James), Rachel Chaves (Philip), Tori Donaldson (Matthew), David Robinson (Holly); brother, Linwood “Itchy” Thorne (Joy); sister, Wanita Laski; 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

David served in the US Army in the 101st Airborne Division Screaming Eagles. He was an electrician retiring from Kelly Springfield Tire. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed trips to Alaska. He was a past Commander of the Hyndman VFW and volunteered with the Hyndman Fire Department and Rescue Squad. He was also a member of the Kennells Mill Sportsmen’s Club and Buffalo Run Rod and Gun Club.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday, April 5, 2024 from  1 to 3 p.m. where a service will follow at 3 p.m.

Burial at Hyndman Cemetery with Military Honors by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
