Obituary

Ellerslie, MD – Donald D. “Woody” Woodrum, 96, of Ellerslie, MD went to be with the Lord Monday January 27, 2020 at Cumberland Healthcare Center.
Born June 2, 1923 in Hinton, WV; he was a son of the late Davis and Marie (Churchfield) Woodrum. He was also preceded in death by wives, Wanda (Newell) in 1975 and Eva May (Miller) in 2008; a son, Donald Addison; stepsons, William “Frank” Hansrote, Donald Hansrote and George “Stan” Hansrote; brothers, John, Leonard and Leo Woodrum; sisters, Carol Kirby, Kathryn Clayton.
Survived by daughter Rosemary Boothe and husband David of Delta, PA, niece and caregiver, Jakkie Lease and husband Terry of Ridgeley, WV, grandchildren, George Hansrote III and wife Kristin, Tracey Beasley and husband Greg, Angie Lewis, Scott Hansrote, Theresa Hall, David Hansrote, Steven Hansrote, Jamiee Lynn Shrieve, Paul Whisner, John Thomas and April Thomas; brother, Shirley “Pete” Woodrum of Radford, VA, sisters, Mary Jane Eberly of Dublin, VA, Reba Emerson of Rio, WI; and several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Woody was a member of Ellerslie United Methodist Church. He served in the USMC during WWII.  He was a member of the Mountainside Marines Detachment 1071. He worked Construction for 32 years with the Steel Workers Union.
A memorial service will be held at the Ellerslie United Methodist Church on Thursday February 6, 2020 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sandy Hetz Burchell officiating. 
Internment  at Rocky Gap State Veterans Cemetery at 2 pm. 
In lieu of flowers donations may be made Ellerslie United Methodist Church
