Donald G. Whitford, 94, of Buffalo Mills, went to be with the Lord, December 21, 2017 at UPMC Bedford.

Born November 18, 1923 in Meyersdale, PA; he was a son of the late James R. Sr. and Elizabeth M. (Shumaker) Whitford. He was also preceded in death by wives, Eleanor J. (Swauger) Whitford in 2000 and Anna Mary (Smith) Whitford in 2017; a brother, James Whitford Jr. and a sister, Marian Payden.

Survived by a daughter, Donna Housel and husband Ben; a son, Glenn Whitford, grandchildren, Tammy Dawson and husband Kenny, Jason Whitford all of Buffalo Mills, Aaron Housel of Springhill, TN; four great grandchildren and a special cousin Jeannie Whitford of Meyersdale.

Donald served in the US Army during WWII receiving the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Metal, Meritorious Unit Award and the WWII Victory Metal. He had worked for many years for the B & O Railroad and CSX in the Roll Shop and as a Machinist. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where he served at Treasurer for many years. He was a life member of the Hyndman VFW Oscar Jordan Post and the Lybarger Cemetery Association.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Tuesday December 26, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Christ Lutheran Church, 7319 Hyndman Rd., Buffalo Mills, PA on Wednesday December 27, 2017 at 11 a.m. with The Rev. Ray Short officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Lybarger Cemetery, Buffalo Mills with military honors by the Ft. Bedford Honor Guard.
