Donald L. Helmick, 82, Hyndman, went to be with the Lord Friday September 6, 2019 at Allegany Nursing and Rehab.

Born December 28, 1936 in Thomas WV; he was a son of the late Herbert and Olive (Bodkin) Helmick. He is also preceded in death by a son, Richard L. Helmick, grandson Derrick Sisk, and a brother, Richard Helmick.

Don retired from Stroehmann’s Bakery after many years. He was a lifelong mechanic. Member of Central Christian Church, Kennells Mill Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed hunting and watching NASCAR and the WVU Mountaineers and supporting his grandchildren in their sports and activities.

Survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia (Hedrick) Helmick, whom he married March 17, 1959; son, Donald Eugene “Gene” Hedrick and wife Marlene of Hyndman, daughters, Barbara Cyprus and her son Nicholas of New Jersey, Donna Emerick and husband Dave of Hyndman, Wanda Satzer and husband Gary of Hyndman; sisters, Mary Ellen Cousin of Bedford, Clara Daugherty of Cumberland; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson and close friend Leland Cummings and wife Alice.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Central Christian Church, Clarence St., Hyndman on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Terry Elliott officiating. Friends received one hour prior.

Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, MD
