Hyndman, PA – Donald L. Messenger, 78, of Hyndman went to be with the Lord Saturday March 4. 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born February 20, 1939 in Rowlesburg, WV; he was a son of late the Tharrell and Susan (Witt) Messenger. He was raised by his uncle and aunt, Luther and Anna Witt, who precede him in death.  Also preceded in death by his brother, Noble Messenger and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Messenger.

Survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra K. (Robertson) Messenger; sons, David L. Mesenger and wife Beth of Ridgely, WV; Mark L. Messenger and wife Joan of Hyndman, Todd Messenger of Hyndman; grandchildren, Jonathan Messenger and fiancée Courtney, Sarah Messenger and boyfriend Dontril, Rebekah, MJ, Rachel and Spencer Messenger, Garrett and Paige Sturtz; and a great grandson, Emmitt, who brightened many days for Pap.

Donald was a 1957 graduate of Mount Savage High School. He served in the US Airforce from 1957-1961. He then worked 11 years at Pittsburgh Plate Glass and retired from CSX Railroad after 31 years of service. He attended Tri-State Ministry Center and enjoyed mission work, fishing, kayaking and spending time with his family.

Friends will be received at the at the Tri-State Ministry Center, 232 Hyndman Rd, Hyndman on Tuesday March 7, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the church on Wednesday March 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Stevie Leydig officiating

Burial will follow at Cooks Mill Cemetery, with Military Honors by the Ft. Bedford Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Tri-State Ministry Center Building Fund or Build Your House on the Rock Ministries, P.O. Box 12764, Lake Charles, Louisiana 70612-2764 for the Casa Allegro Orphanage.
