Hyndman, PA – Donald Leroy Burkett, 79, Hyndman, passed away December 26, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born December 17, 1940 in Cumberland, MD; he was a son of the late Leroy and Gladys (Baker) Burkett. Also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Burkett.

Survived by loving wife of 59 years, Mary E. (Franks) Burkett whom he married October 1, 1960; children, Donald L. Burkett Jr. and wife Shirley of Culpepper, VA; William Burkett of Hyndman; Diana Crapo and husband Michael Sr. of Brentwood, MD; sister, Lois Weaverling of Hyndman; 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and special family friend, Lynn Shoemaker.

Don retired as a supervisor for Frido-Lay in 2002. He was a member of Central Christian Church.  He enjoyed hunting, trout fishing, and gardening.  He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and a member of Kennells Mill Sportsmen’s Club.  He loved spending time with family and friends.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Sunday December 29th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday December 30th  at 11 a.m. with Pastor Terry Elliott officiating.

 Burial will follow at Hyndman Cemetery.
