Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Donald N. “Pep” May went home to his Lord on Thursday, March 3, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Born February 4, 1937 in Bard, PA, he was a son of the late John and Evelyn “Lena” (Holler) May.  Pep was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Howard (JR), Harry Wayne, and Tom May.

Pep was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather.  He married his wife of 62 years, Mary F. (Clapper) May on July 10, 1959.  She survives along with his children, Todd May and wife Susan, Tim May and wife Joy, Jill Wigfield and husband Troy.

He had 7 grandchildren, Jonathan May, Kiera Clites (Cody), Kiana Sigler (Kenny), Brittany Paulos (Kevin), Dustin Wigfield (fiancé, Kayla), Tanner Wigfield, and Abriana Miller (Bryce).  Pep was also blessed to have 11 great-grand children:  Lena, Liam, Layla, Kennedy, Arabella, Luciana, Cole, Gabriella, Giavanna, Jayce, Brooklynn, and very special nephew, John S. Baker (Gina).  Pep’s brother, Carl May, and sister Wanda Gage also survive, along with many nieces and nephews.  Family meant everything to him.  He was absolutely adored and loved by his family, and will be deeply missed.

Pep was an outstanding athlete at Hyndman High School, where he excelled on the basketball court, and the baseball field.  He served in the USMC from 1956-1958.  He worked at PPG, Kelly Springfield Tire Co., The United States Chamber of Commerce, and had several businesses over the course of his lifetime including Madley Homes and Carpet Sales, The Carpet Store in Meyersdale, Amway, The Bedford Hotel and Tavern, Manns Choice Grocery, The Captain’s Table in Schellsburg, and May’s Land and Sea.  He was a member of the Kennells Mill Sportman’s Club, and was an avid outdoorsman.  Pep also served on the Bedford Area School Board, and had previously been the Bedford County Republican Chairman.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday March 9th, 2022 from 11 a.m – 1 p.m. at Tull’s Hill Bible Church, 1847 Tull’s Hill Rd., Bedford, PA.  Pep was a member, and dearly loved and appreciated his church family.

A graveside service with military honors will follow at 2 p.m at Madley Cemetery with Pastor Steve Corbett officiating.
