Hyndman, PA Dorothy Ward, 82, of Hyndman, died Wednesday August 10, 2014 at WMHS Regional Medical Center.
Born October 23, 1931, in Miller Run, PA; she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Anna (Simmons) Salonish. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Guy Ward; a son, Timothy Ward; a brother, Nicholas Salonish Jr.
Survived by sons, Rev. William Ward and wife Patricia of Johnstown; Jeffery Ward and wife Vickie of Meyersdale; Nick Ward of Hyndman; a brother, Peter Salonish and wife Mary Ann of Ridgeley, WV; 8 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Mrs. Ward had worked at the Barefoot Shoe Factory in Bedford and the Celanese. She retired from Emerick’s Meats after 20 plus years of service.
She was a member of the SS Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church in Central City, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed hunting in her youth and loved to sew and quilt. Her family will remember her passion for cooking and baking and all of the Holiday meals she prepared.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Wednesday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 10 to 11 am at SS Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church.
A funeral service will be conducted at SS Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 149 Wheeler St., Central City on Thursday at 11 am with Fr. Miles Zdinak and Fr. Deacon Oleg Aminov officiating
Burial will follow at SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Greek Catholic Cemetery, Central City.
