Hyndman, PA – Earl B. Shaffer, 89, of Hyndman passed away Friday, February 8, 2019, at Allegany Nursing and Rehab.

Born November 12, 1929, in Hyndman; he was a son of the late Claude B. and Nellie Mae (Bruck) Shaffer. Preceded in death by sisters, Betty Ours, Mona “Peggy” Atwood, brothers, John, Bob, and Stephen Shaffer.

Survived by wife of 55 years, Evelyn P. (Burkett) Shaffer, whom he married September 5, 1963; daughter, Ellen Shroyer and Husband Donnie of Hyndman; grandchildren, Corey Shroyer of Hyndman;  siblings, Claude “Jitter” (Linda), Richard “Dick” , Douglas “Butch” (Lana) and Glenn “Pug” (Vickie) Shaffer, Wanda Bistline (Les) and Joyce Pensyl (Stanley), of Hyndman, Martha Jane (Jim) Johnston of North Carolina, sister-in-laws, Charlotte Shaffer and Audrey Shaffer, and many, many nieces and nephews.

Earl served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He Retired from CSX where he was a machinist. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hyndman Masonic Lodge 589 F&AM and the Hyndman Rod and Gun Club.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Saturday February 16, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. where a service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Ryan Viands officiating.

Burial at Madley Cemetery, Buffalo Mills.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that everyone takes a day or more and spend with their family.
